Head NV was founded in Baltimore, Maryland , USA in 1950 by aeronautical engineer Howard Head , after he took a skiing trip and was surprised to find that his skis were made of wood in an era when metals and plastics were replacing wood in many products. Head worked at the Glenn L. Martin Company, where they used a form of aluminium and plastic laminate to build aircraft fuselages, and felt that the same material would make an ideal ski. After two years of constantly breaking skis, in the winter of 1950 they had a design that not only held together but also made turning much easier.

The Head Standard would grow rapidly in sales during the 1950s, until this and other Head designs captured over 50% of the US market. During the 1960s, they became the leading ski manufacturer in the US and the UK.

In 1939, after years of experience as leather traders, the brothers Adriano and Oddone Vaccari founded “Nordica” in Montebelluna, manufacturing casual shoes. In the post-war years, Nordica specialised in ski boots, although it continued to supply the market with cross-country ski shoes and climbing boots. The work remained seasonal and the equipment manual.

In 1950 Zeno Colò gave its name to a Nordic ski boot and a revolutionary lining designed by Colmar. Zeno became World Champion with Nordica in both downhill and giant slalom at the 1950 World Championships in Aspen, Colorado, and gave his name to a ski boot manufactured by the company in Trevignano.

Today the Nordica brand manufactures skis, ski boots and ski accessories. Based in Giavera del Montello, Italy, the brand was purchased from Benetton by the Tecnica Group in 2003.

It all starts in the 80’s when three people meet and decide to start offering the world new products in the field of snowboarding. They were so well received that their popularity prompted them to set new goals. In the 90s they entered the world of skiing with the intention of doing new things and continuing with a business that was aiming high. With their experience in the market they were able to create skis that were so varied and effective that even the professionals surrendered to the level of quality and innovation that they were able to present.

One aspect that has led Movement, which is part of the Freeski company, to move forward and continue to surprise is that it has always maintained its desire to evolve over the years. This is something that professionals and amateurs alike value and which leads them to develop a greater level of confidence in the products they develop. They use advanced technology to ensure that their skis are up to date with what the experts are looking for. The shape and dedication they put into each ski and pair of boots means that the value of the brand is increasing in an unstoppable way.

Dynastar took off as a manufacturer on its own, under a name created from the union of the two previous companies (Dynamic and Starflex).

Its growth, since then, and its longevity as one of the leading brands in the ski sector is due to the effort to achieve a clear objective: to explore new avenues and constantly innovate to offer every skier the performance and sensations they dream of.

Dynastar has grown on pillars that demonstrate its commitment: the mountains, without which skiing would not exist, passion and extensive know-how are the ingredients for the creation of skis that leave their mark on history.

The Briko brand was founded in Milan in 1985 by Alberto Brignone. The company first became known for the production of waxes dedicated to professional skiers. The Briko brand diversified and began to focus on protective equipment with its collections of Briko goggles, masks and helmets for skiing and cycling. In 1989, the brand launched Thrama, an innovative lens for better protection against UV rays. Protetto technology reinforces the protection of the helmet on the neck thanks to its soft ABS shell. This know-how continues to attract top athletes, such as skier Lindsey Vonn, whose brand is marketing the professional model in partnership with RedBull

Técnica Spa, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of winter sportswear, began in 1960 in Montebelluna making work boots.

It enjoyed its first major worldwide success in 1970, with the launch of the Moon Boot, a word used worldwide to define the apre ski shoe.
In the 1970s, Técnica launched the first bi-injected plastic ski boot, the Tecnus: a real revolution for the sector, which would be followed by the successful Tnt range.

Técnica is a product-oriented company: focused on the best quality, the best performance footwear and the best fit. It is a brand for skiers, nature lovers and sport lovers.

As many of you know, Blizzard is a brand that builds skis in Austria, with a very powerful construction in all ranges, and with an effective, clear and very visible technology that makes this high-end brand a safe choice for the most demanding skiers.

For Blizzard’s engineers, day-to-day life is a never-ending process of discovery with their athletes, design team, and everyday skiers that allows Blizzard to visualize opportunities to discover new innovations and technologies. From the concept, through the prototype, all the way to the mountain. They design products using the highest quality modern materials that enhance the skier’s experience.

The company was founded in 1907 by Abel Rossignol, who manufactured wooden products (such as spindles) for the textile industry. Rossignol, a committed skier, used his carpentry skills to make a pair of solid wood skis. In 1937, Émile Allais of France became triple world champion in Rossignol Olympic 41 skis.

When Laurent Boix-Vives bought the company in 1956, the company only focused on ski equipment and began selling it worldwide. Rossignol made a breakthrough during the 1960 Winter Olympic Games in Squaw Valley , California , USA , when Jean Vuarnet of France won the downhill at Allais 60, the company’s first all-metal skis.

In 1964, Rossignol launched the Strato, its first fibreglass ski.

In the 1970s, Rossignol established a distribution company in the USA. IN THE 1970S, ROSSIGNOL ESTABLISHED A DISTRIBUTION COMPANY IN THE USA. The company launched its first Nordic skis and soon became the largest ski manufacturer in the world. At the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Rossignol succeeded in winning six out of ten gold medals in alpine events.

In 1990, Rossignol acquired the Caber boot factory in Italy and renamed the product under the Rossignol label (Rossignol already controlled the Lange ski boot brand). The company also acquired the Geze and Look ranges of ski bindings, changing the name to Geze. It soon moved into snowboarding and mountain clothing.

Lange is a major producer of ski boots used in alpine skiing. The world’s first plastic ski boots were introduced in 1962, and a greatly improved model targeted the racing market in 1965. After several World Cup and Olympic Games wins in 1967 and 1968 they became an indispensable tool on the circuit, Lange has maintained a strength in the racing market ever since.

1969 was the decisive year for the company. Three models were on the market to serve different levels of performance, the Standard for recreational skiing, the Pro for more demanding use, and the Comp for downhill racing. There was only one competitor, Rosemont, but its product was based on fiberglass and used a side-opening system that was clearly inferior to Lange’s boots and could only compete in the low range, despite a high-end price. By the end of the season, Lange was being sold to hundreds of shops across the country at prices that no one else could demand.

Their boots have outfitted five times the medal-winning World Cup as any other brand in the 2000’s.

The front entry design introduced by Lange is used by almost all modern ski boots to this day. Lange remains one of the leading brands worldwide.

Founded in 1888 in Oyonnax, France, the Bollé family originally designed and manufactured combs and hair accessories made of horns and boxwood. In 1936, the company launched the manufacture of sunglasses and optical frames made of celluloid and then Rhodoid. After the Second World War, Bollé was the pioneer of moulded nylon, with products that met the highest standards of the time. The first series of goggles and protective masks completed Bollé’s line in 1950.

Bollé’s sporting adventure began in 1960 with the introduction of its first ski goggles. In the meantime, Bollé’s industrial protection department worked together with the French army, navy and aerospace to develop protective eyewear.

Leading the industry with innovative products, the Bollé family succeeded in making the small workshop of its beginnings flourish to become one of the world’s first manufacturers of quality eyewear

Today, more than 100 years later, Bollé products are distributed and used in all regions of the world.

The Cébé company was founded at the end of the 19th century, in the heart of the mountains in the Jura region of France. Created by Jean-Louis Crestin-Billet in Morez, the cradle of French optics, the rather “temperate” brand is a pioneer in the manufacture of sports glasses. Since its inception, it has accompanied numerous mountaineers on their expeditions and has created with them products perfectly adapted to the most extreme climatic conditions. Some great figures will leave their indelible mark on the brand’s history: this is the case of Walter Cecchinel, at the origin of the legendary range of glacier glasses of the same name, or even Carl Benz, the founder of Mercedes Benz, who commissioned Cébé to make tailor-made driving glasses for him and his dog… at a time when the windscreen had not yet been invented!

The Cébé brand specialises in the manufacture of both sports sunglasses (with a wealth of experience in running and mountaineering) and lifestyle sunglasses, as well as ski masks and helmets. Born in 1892 in the Jura mountains, the “Pure Adrenaline” brand is characterised by its practical and authentic products created from the brand’s passion for outdoor and adventure. The ranges are aimed at adults as well as teenagers and children.
